Smart Helmet

Periods: 21.11.2024
- 30.09.2025

Development of a smart helmet for real-time digital twin data performance in the oil and gas industry, with a promising solution for use in the construction industry

Partner:

SIA “3D Engineering” (Project 2.2.1.3.i.0/1/24/A/CFLA/003)

Project overview:

Data acquisition takes place with the help of 3D laser scanning and 360-degree cameras. However, acquiring data with a laser scanner is a time-consuming and expensive process.

Therefore, the project idea –developing a “Smart Helmet” that any oil rig worker can put on exactly as it is done now and with the help of built-in cameras, quickly obtain geospatial data, which will be further integrated into the “Digital Twin” database to provide operational data restoration.

The company has reached agreements with existing customers – British Petroleum and SOCAR, for trials of such solutions and further procurement and integration if the trials prove successful.

Planned results:

  • Technology pilot demonstrator and the first version of the product, which would be ready for the implementation of the pilot project with the first customers. (TRL 5-6)
  • Module for integration into typical helmets used on oil rigs
  • Technology validation results in pilot tests (in real conditions)
  • Scientific articles – 2 (Scopus / WoS)
