Uz modelēšanu balstītas sistēmu analīzes un projektēšanas (MADSYS) pētniecības klastera mērķis ir nepārtraukti attīstīt akadēmiskās, pētniecības un konsultāciju darbības, kas koncentrējas uz modelēšanas kā lēmumu pieņemšanas atbalsta instrumenta izmantošanu dažādu sistēmu analīzē un projektēšanā. Pētniecības klastera infrastruktūra ietver specializētu programmatūru, piemēram, PTV VISSIM/VISUM – satiksmes simulācijai, AnyLogic un ExtendSim – vispārējas nozīmes simulācijas sistēmas u. c., plaši tiek izmantoti arī dažādi datu analīzes rīki, piemēram, Python, R, SPSS u. c.

Klastera locekļi ir pieredzējuši pētnieki ar ārkārtīgi lielu pieredzi dažāda līmeņa pētījumu veikšanā, izmantojot modelēšanas teoriju un modelēšanas programmatūru, lai risinātu lietišķas problēmas dažādās jomās.
