TSI offers a basic or elementary-level course in the Chinese language in collaboration with the Confucius institute.
Basic level: focus on how to use Chinese practically. Use Chinese in social communication and daily simple conversation. Covered the dialogues, words, and expressions such as age, time, number, season, and location. Covered topics such as my interests, hobbies, and plans. Covered communicative situations such as work, shopping, and travel. Covered practical skills: how to ask the location, how to shop, how to choose transportation.
Elementary level: focus on language and culture Language review- grammar, phonetics, characters, materials, and the tasks in the book. Be interrelated to HSK contents. Cultural review – Chinese tea, Chinese paper-cut, Chinese knots, Chinese calligraphy, Beijing Opera and Beijing opera construction times, Chinese festival such as Mid-Autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival, The Dragon Boat Festival, and Spring Festival; Chinese music such as Chinese Guqin, Chinese flute, and bottle gourd silk.
