Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) continues to implement European Social Fund (ESF) project “Strengthening Transport and Telecommunication Institute Academic Staff in the Areas of Strategic Specialisation” (No 8.2.2.0/18/A/011), and as of September this year cooperation with many foreign lecturers has started.
From September 16 guest professor from Portugal Shahid Mumtaz (Aveiro University) shall provide lectures at TSI, his expertise is study course “Smart IoT Services”. Dr.Mumtaz is international specialist in electronics and TSI is planning to develop academic and scientific cooperation with him as well as to initiate together new projects. During the meetings with TSI chairwoman and the Vice-Rector for Research and Development Irina Yatskiv and the Dean of Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunication Michael Savrasov opportunities for such further cooperation were identified.
From September this year also long-term cooperation with professor from Lithuania Aliaksandr Puptsau was started, he will teach the study course “Data Structures and Algorithms”. Till January 2020 many visits of him to Riga are planned. Head of Department of Software Engineering Irina Pticina stated that so far the university has already successfully cooperated with this lecturer and there have been several guest lectures within the Erasmus program. Dr.Puptsau is also a prominent specialist in distance learning and his experience in developing distance learning materials is very valuable for TSI. We are delighted that the project allows us long-term cooperation with the professor.
Since the beginning of this academic year, Ioseb Gabelaia from Georgia has started work as a lecturer at TSI, he is a PhD candidate at the International Black Sea University in Tbilisi.
Mr.Gabelaia is a marketing specialist with work experience in American companies, and he will work in TSI as a lecturer on such courses as “Human Resource Management and Leadership” and “Marketing Management” for Master’s program students in Aviation Management.
Taking part in this ESF project, from September 2019 in TSI is also a lecturer from Latvia Julija Mironova, who is currently studying for a PhD and is continuing her academic career.
During the Fall semester, TSI students will have the opportunity to welcome and meet other foreign guest lecturers.

The total costs of the two-year project (till 31 October 2020) is 676,083.35 euros, of which the European Social Fund provides 574,670.85 euros (85%), and the Latvia state budget amounts to 101,412.50 euros (15%).
