On September 21, TSI, in collaboration with Robotiem.lv and Robotu Skola, organized a meeting and training session for Latvian robotics teachers. The session introduced globally recognized STEM robotics programs, FLL and WRO, including their latest updates and rules.
WRO (World Robotic Olympiad) and FLL (FIRST LEGO League) are international programs operating in over 80 countries, aiming to foster interest in science and technology among youth aged 10-16. Participants are tasked with conducting research projects, building and programming LEGO robots, and showcasing creativity and teamwork.
At the beginning of each academic year, teams worldwide receive a challenge to solve within 3-6 months, presenting their solutions in competitions. Each year is dedicated to a specific global science and technology issue, such as ocean protection, elder care, global climate, or education. During the seminar, teachers were introduced to this season’s FLL “Submerged” missions and their rules, along with programming training using the Pybrick platform.
Simultaneously, a meeting of the organizers of the Latvian Robotics Championship took place, where topics like season updates, rule changes, the introduction of new disciplines, and the competition calendar were discussed.
As usual, the first stage of the Latvian Robotics Championship will be held at TSI on December 14, 2024. Anyone interested in participating in the competition by building their own robot or helping organize the TSI stage can contact the TSI robotics club, located on the first floor in the TERC laboratory.
