Ilya Jackson, alumni of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI), gave an inspiring lecture to the first-year students. During the lecture, Ilya shared his experience how studies from TSI led him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, where he currently works as a Researcher at the Center for Transportation & Logistics in the field of supply chain management and machine learning.
Ilya says “I am a Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics. My research interests are all about supply chain management and machine learning. My daily routine includes corporate outreach, advisory on the methodology, solving complex data-driven problems, and writing. Academia is all about writing. “Publish or perish,” as we like to say.
I am unsure if I am competent to advise regarding things unrelated to academic career. In general, I would recommend freshmen decide what they want from life and stay committed.”
Ilya holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering and logistics. In 2020, he obtained a PhD degree at TSI, in the study programme Telematics and Logistics, and also received the Young Researcher Award for his work ” Neuroevolutionary Approach to Metamodel-based Optimization in Production and Logistics “, based on his PhD thesis.
