From January 1, 2022 to April 30, 2022, the State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) are providing support to students under the age of 23 (including) who are studying at a higher education institution during that period. The support is provided on the basis of the Law on Measures to Reduce the Extraordinary Rise in Energy Prices, which entered into force on 29 January 2022. The amount of support is EUR 50 per month, so in total of EUR 200.
Support can receive any student, regardless of the study form or type (whether full-time/part-time/distance learning) and regardless of whether or not they are working, married or not. Support is not provided if the student has a temporary residence permit.
In order to apply for support, you should fill in the application to VSAA (application form) and submit:
- electronically at the official e-mail address
- electronically by e-mail pasts@vsaa.gov.lv (electronically signed by secure electronic signature, which contains a time-stamp)
- by sending it by post to any department or by putting it in any VSAA customer service centre’s mailbox during the working hours.
