Critical Perspectives on Career and Career Guidance (COCAG): Exploring the Changing Landscape of Careers Across Europe and Beyond

TSI is proud to announce that Professor Yulia Stukalina from the Faculty of Transport and Management has been appointed as a Management Committee Member, representing Latvia in the prestigious COST Action CA23112 Programme.

The COST Action Critical Perspectives on Career and Career Guidance (COCAG), initiated in October 2024, is bringing together scholars from across Europe and beyond to explore the evolving world of careers and career guidance. With a focus on addressing the contemporary challenges and changes facing individuals’ career paths, COCAG aims to create meaningful dialogue on how public policies and career guidance practices can adapt in response.

COST Action Programme invites researchers to contribute to stimulating publications, collaborate on new research directions, and facilitate the public communication of their findings to policymakers and career practitioners. The initiative fosters the development of international research networks and provides a platform for Young Researchers and Innovators to co-publish with seasoned experts and engage in an array of activities.

Capacity building is at the heart of COCAG’s mission. The project enables emerging researchers to advance their careers, particularly by collaborating with researchers from COST Member Countries, Near Neighbour Countries (NNC), and International Partner Countries (IPC). By connecting and supporting researchers from diverse backgrounds, the Action Programme contributes to expanding the global network of career development experts and helps to drive forward innovative solutions for the future of career guidance.

COST Action COCAG also works to support the engagement of researchers from COST Inclusiveness Target Countries, ensuring diverse perspectives and approaches are integrated into the conversation about career guidance and public policy. As the world of careers continues to shift, the COCAG initiative is essential for building an informed, inclusive, and responsive future for career guidance professionals and the individuals they serve.

Professor Yulia Stukalina is an active contributor to COCAG Working Groups “The Challenges and Changes in Careers in the Contemporary World” and “Critical Practice in Career Guidance,” which address three key research questions that are critical for understanding the future of careers:

  • How can the challenges and changes happening to careers in the contemporary world be understood?
  • How can policymakers respond to contemporary challenges to individuals’ careers?
  • How can career guidance practice adopt a more critical stance to address the changing world more effectively?

Warmest congratulations to Professor Yulia Stukalina, and we wish all COCAG participants a successful and fruitful collaboration!
