BigData Analysis for Executives

ECTS Credits: 3.0

Annotation

The course aims to provide executives and researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the potential and challenges of Big Data analytics in driving business decisions. The course covers a range of topics, including data processing, data management, data visualization, and predictive analytics. Participants will learn to interpret and use large data sets to identify business trends, patterns, and insights. They will also develop skills in selecting appropriate analytical tools, techniques, and methodologies for different business scenarios. The course is designed to equip executives and researchers with the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage big data analytics to drive innovation, optimize operations, and enhance business performance.

Educational aim

The course is targeted to none-engineering students, who would like to understand and get practice in use of the concepts of the BigData in the professional and research domain.

Assessment strategy

The course will utilize lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises to provide a comprehensive understanding of big data analytics. The assessment strategy will consist of a single project assignment, which students will present as a 30-minute presentation. The project will require students to apply the concepts and tools covered in the course to a real-world problem, demonstrating their ability to work collaboratively and communicate their findings effectively. This approach will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to apply big data analytics techniques in professional and research settings.

Independent study

As a part of the course, students will be required to engage in independent study to supplement the lectures and practical sessions. This independent study may involve reading academic articles, working on coding exercises, or conducting their own research projects related to big data analytics. Students will have the opportunity to work individually or in groups to apply the concepts and tools learned in the course to real-world problems, enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The independent study component of the course will provide students with the necessary time and resources to explore and deepen their understanding of big data analytics beyond the scope of the structured course materials.
