Annotation | The purpose of this course is to expose students to concepts, strategies, and best practices in Information Systems audit and control. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to plan and execute audit strategies and controls, based on proven IS audit standards, frameworks, and guidelines. In the frame of the course, students will have the ability to make themselves familiar with different aspects of IS audit and practice themself on completing the audit for the company. |
Aim | The purpose of this course is to expose students to concepts, strategies, and best practices in Information Systems audit and control. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to plan and execute audit strategies and controls, based on proven IS audit standards, frameworks, and guidelines. |
LO1 | Develop, implement and execute an IS audit strategy in accordance with IS audit standards, guidelines and best practices. |
LO2 | Effectively communicate emerging issues, potential risks, and audit results to key stakeholders. |
LO3 | Evaluate the design, implementation and monitoring of various security controls to ensure that information asset are adequately safeguarded. |
LO4 | Critically analyze problematic legal and ethical situations, examine their possible resolution and recommend a justifiable course of action. |

Assessment Method | Teaching methods used in this course are Interactive learning, lectures and Case studies. Each class topic will be substantiated with practical case studies and assigned readings to stimulate students’ active participation and class discussions. By the end of the course, the examination will be conducted. The second item which contributes to the final grade is the report about the group project, which shall be completed and prepared by a team of 2-3 students. The project will be targeted at conducting the IS audit for selected and approved local companies. During projects, teams shall use the standards, guidelines and best practices discussed throughout the semester. Students will also identify potential risk areas and make suitable recommendations |
Independent study | Independent study will be concentrated around self-reading materials recommended by the teaching staff, and project implementation (team meeting, audit implementation, report preparation). |
