On Sunday, April 28, on the premises of TSI university, adult chess tournaments “Latvian Men’s and Women’s Championship Finals” and “Latvian Amateur Championship” began, which will take place throughout the week. Daiga Falkane, the General Secretary of the Latvian Chess Federation, welcomed more than a hundred participants and opened the competitions. Juris Kanels, the Rector of TSI, received the honorary friend of the Chess Federation trophy, wished everyone good luck, and made the symbolic first move.
It is well known that chess promotes strategic thinking, reflexes, memory, logical thinking, etc.
