Teaching at post- and graduate level: 45 years of pedagogical experience in university; courses: Research Methodology (PhD programme); New Trends of Telematics and Logistics Development (PhD programme), Research Methodology (MSc programme), Theory of Systems and System Analysis (MSc programme), Transport Policy (MSc programme), Intelligent Transport Systems (MSc programme), Reliability Engineering (BSc programme) etc.
Participation in projects: has participated in 37 international projects (in 26 projects as national coordinator of the projects) and 26 Latvian research projects and programs (in 23 as head of the projects) within the frame of COST Activities, Horizon 2020, Framework Programs, INTERREG etc.
Research Interests: Transport Telematics and Logistics, Smart Cities, Analysis and Modelling of Transport Systems, Intelligent Transport Systems, Reliability of Electronics Systems, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Information Technology Applications, Electronics and Telecommunication, Decision Support Systems, Avionics, Air Traffic Control Systems and others.
Supervised Doctoral, Master and Bachelor Theses: Supervisor of 9 PhD theses and more than 200 Master and Bachelor theses.

LogOn Baltic aims at improving regional development and spatial integration in different types of regions (e.g. capital regions, semi-rural regions around so-called secondary cities) by transferring knowledge in ICT and logistics competence. The main objective is to produce and disseminate information for regional development agencies on how to support enterprises in the participating regions in their effort to improve ICT and logistics competence, thus improving regional development. The project has been approved in the INTERREG III B Programme.
LogOn Baltic will identify development agencies, evaluate their performance in selected Baltic Sea regions and also evaluate the level of logistics and ICT efficiency (among users) within the participating regions. It will also suggest concrete actions for regional and local public sector bodies to enable the spreading of the competence and exploitation of it in spatial planning. LogOn Baltic will search measures and suggest extension projects to enhance the circumstances for the development of SMEs in the regions.
WP 1 the context of regional development in view of ICT and logistics concentrates on the connection of ICT and logistics to the regional development in the public sector;
WP 2 ICT and logistics competence in the participating regions, examines the ICT and logistics know-how among logistics users and providers, and what these firms’ expectations from the public sector are;
WP 3 advancing regional development through ICT and logistics competence, processes the results from WP1 and WP2 with key stakeholders;
WP 4 comprises the dissemination of LogOn Baltic, and runs throughout the project period. nalysis of the Regions ICT and Logistics development needs and the effectiveness of performed and anticipated development activities
