On January 27th, ILCEF (Indian Latvian Cultural & Economic Forum) hosted a cross-cultural event in collaboration with TSI, Transport and Telecommunication Institute. The celebration of Indian Republic Day was held at TSI and was aimed at celebrating the 74th Republic Day of India.
Guests — from students to honorary members of the governmental organisations and education institutions were greeted by the TSI Rector, Member of the Board, Ph.D.sc.pol., assist. prof. Juris Kanels, who congratulated everyone in a spirit of celebration, addressed the importance of supporting international relations.
Event, highly important for the Indian community, in Latvia and beyond, included various activities aimed at Indian cultural appreciation and sustaining Latvian-Indian relationships. The celebration included a ceremonial experience led by the Ayurveda Academic Chair of Latvia, Dr. Shantala Priyadarshini, welcoming speech from an advisor to the ILCEF board Dr. Anurag Mishra. Guests gathered were entertained by traditional dancing in various interpretations and had an opportunity to network while enjoying traditional snacks.
In a congratulatory message addressed to the event at TSI, Tanmaya Lal, Ambassador of India to Sweden & Latvia, mentioned that the “Business and investment linkages in both digital and manufacturing sectors are growing. As are links in the higher education sector. The future of our ties is promising”, highlighting that the Indian community will continue to work towards a continuing strengthening of India — Latvia friendship.”
TSI, the university of applied sciences, with the highest international faculty ratio in Latvia by reviews of world education rankings, is grateful for the chance to be one of the organisers of such a culturally- rich and society-valuable event.
