The Role of sustainable Practices in Shaping Customer Behavior in Latvian
Restaurants Chains.

The aim of this work is to investigate customers' attitudes towards sustainable practices implemented in fast food restaurants. In the context of modern ecological and social challenges, sustainable development is becoming an important part of business strategy, and fast food restaurants are starting to adopt various eco-friendly approaches, such as using environmentally clean packaging, minimizing food waste, improving energy efficiency, and supporting social initiatives. The work includes a theoretical overview of existing sustainable practices in the restaurant industry, as well as an empirical study aimed at examining customer perceptions of these practices. To collect data, customer surveys from fast food restaurants were used. Special attention was given to the analysis of factors influencing consumers' attitudes towards sustainable practices, such as age, education level, and income. The study results showed that most customers are not fully aware of the benefits of sustainable practices in fast food restaurants. The conclusion of the work provides recommendations for fast food restaurants on improving the perception of sustainable practices and increasing customer loyalty.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN PASSENGER TRANSPORT: ANALYSIS OF PROBLEMS AND STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME THE CHALLENGES OF THE MODERN TRANSPORT INDUSTRY

The author of the Master's thesis is Artūrs Ābols. The thesis was prepared for the Master's degree. The relevance of the Master's thesis is based on the shortage of human resources and the ageing workforce in the transport sector.The topic of the thesis is Human Resource Management in Passenger Transport: Problem Analysis and Strategies for Overcoming the Challenges of the Modern Transport Sector. Professional Master's degree in Transport and Business Logistics and qualification as Manager in Transport and Business Logistics. "Transport is that sector of the economy without which no other production plant can exist, not even the most ordinary grocery store", says Sprancmanis (Sprancmanis, 2001)Effective human resource management is one of the most important factors for future development, as effective human resource management is essential for the competitiveness and long-term relationship of the transport sector. The management of human resources problems contributes directly to improving productivity, service quality and economic sustainability in passenger transport.The transport sector faces a number of human resource challenges, including an ageing workforce, under-qualified staff and the need to constantly adapt to technological change.

Customer Satisfaction in Information Provision in Bus and Coach terminals

The actuality of this research lies in the significance of changing the mobility traditions toward public transport usage. It requires considering various aspects of the customer experience in public transport services. Transport terminals are an asset to an area as they may act as catalysts for more active use of public transport. However, poorly planned, and sited terminals may generate problems and passengers reduction.The research aims to gain insights into the effectiveness of information visualization in bus and coach terminals and contribute to enhancing the overall passenger experience during journeys. The author is reviewing existing literature on information visualization in transport terminals and studies, or best practices related to improving passenger experiences through effective information design.The author used both quantitative and qualitative methods as sources of data, such as user surveys, expert interviews, and observations for understanding how passengers interact with existing information displays. From analysis, the Riga International Coach terminal has a good information system but misses some visualization tools for information provision. Thus, recommendations were made on how to improve information provision to enhance customer satisfaction.

Adapting mobility points to users' cultural and psychological characteristics : approaches to improve the user experience

The aim of this master’s thesis is to examine user satisfaction with mobility points in Riga, with a particular focus on psychological and cultural factors influencing the public transport experience. The study's relevance is determined by the rapid development of Riga’s infrastructure and the growing demand for public transport, which requires the creation of effective mobility points that meet user needs. The theoretical part analyzes the terms "mobility point" and "transport hub", their definitions, classifications, and the psychological and cultural factors affecting user satisfaction. In the practical part, a survey of Riga residents was conducted to identify key factors influencing transport choices and mobility point usage. Additionally, the "Bērnu slimnīca" (Children’s Hospital) mobility point was analyzed to assess its infrastructure quality and integration with other transport modes. A comparison with international mobility points was carried out to identify best practices and adaptable solutions for the local context. Based on the findings, recommendations for improving mobility points were developed, considering not only technical and logistical aspects but also user psychological and cultural needs.

Green transport solutions in a medium-sized courier company

This paper produces an analysis of the Latvia-based courier delivery company DPD Latvija to determine its possibilities and evaluate sustainable solutions that it has implemented already. The obtained results are used to select suitable green transport solutions using multi-criteria decision making and cost-benefit analysis methods and to develop appropriate recommendations that help to improve the sustainable solutions already used in the company or to introduce new ones.The main green transport solutions covered by the research are the most impactful ones and include switching to electric vehicles, usage of alternative fuels such as CNG, biodiesel and hydrogen cell, and an innovative model of crowdshipping. There are several more solutions covered in the research that can be used to increase a company's contribution to decarbonization.The resulting framework or action plan, can help the company make best investments in implementing green transportation solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and potentially attract new customers. The added value of the work is the opportunity for another Latvian medium-sized courier company to use the proposed framework as a basis for creating its own plan.
