Protecting the engine air intake of medium-haul passenger aircraft to prevent foreign objects damages.

Foreign objects entering the engine have a significant impact on flight safety and, as a rule, lead to early removal of engines and, accordingly, to additional financial costs. The bachelor's thesis examines and analyses the main causes of foreign objects entering the engine, the main ones being throwing them by the front strut wheels, due to the formation of a vortex bundle and from the impact of reverse engine jets. For the designed prototype of the aircraft, an analysis of protection against foreign objects entering the engines was carried out and solutions were proposed for the layout of the power plant on the aircraft, which make it possible to exclude throwing foreign objects by the front strut wheels and jet protection of the air intake, which makes it possible to destroy the resulting vortex bundles in front of the air intake. The proposed jet protection of the engine can have practical application.
