Justification of additional costs and the possibility of downtime in the land transport company

In the literature review of the bachelor's thesis, the types of costs in a company are analyzed and how they could affect the company overall in terms of both costs and functionality. Using transport tariffs, the costs of providing transportation services were calculated and a price was offered to the client. Additional costs and downtime types were analyzed and their impact on the company was assessed. The theoretical analysis of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies was conducted to further apply them to reduce additional costs and downtime.In the second part, the additional costs and downtime factors of the company DSV Latvia and the extent of their impact were described and analyzed.The third part analyzes the application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies in the company DSV Latvia and how significantly they can help reduce additional costs and downtime.

Increasing the efficiency of the company as a result of the organization of optimal procurement procedures

The purpose of the study is to explore and analyse the organisations procurement procedures, their efficiency and the possibilities for increasing it in the company “MKStar”.To achieve the purpose of the Bachelor's work, the author set out the following tasks: 1) Explore theoretical aspects of procurement procedures for improving efficiency. 2) Analyse the market trends of a particular sector. 3) To examine the subject company and its procurement procedures. 4) To perform an analysis of procurement procedures of the company. 5) To draw conclusions and proposals on increasing the efficiency of the company based on the results of the study.The study used these data collection methods: document analysis, semi-structured expert interviews and secondary data analysis.In the work, the author used purchasing analysis methods such as: ''Inventory Turnover'', ''Lean'' and the ''Kralyk Matrix''.The main results of the work relate to joint cooperation between the supplier of raw materials. One way to optimize collaboration is to integrate supplier and buyer purchasing software. One of the problems identified in the work is the fragmentation of suppliers warehouses, which consequently affects the availability of raw materials.

Simulation modeling supports iterative testing and optimization, allowing for the refinement of product designs and manufacturing processes. Ultimately, this approach enhances the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions, leading to more effective cost management and improved profitability. This abstract highlights the value of simulation modeling in optimizing product cost, emphasizing its role in providing actionable insights and fostering strategic improvements.

Today, the development of sustainability policy has a major impact on logistics and supply chains. Company managers develop innovative approaches to organizing and coordinating logistics processes so that the company minimally pollutes the environment, but operates just as quickly and with high quality."Green" logistics is perceived as an organization's contribution to sustainable development to meet the needs of future generations with low greenhouse gas emissions.This work is devoted to the study of the principles of "green" logistics organization; analyzing EU legislation, standards regarding the principles of "green" logistics in order to develop recommendations for the logistics company SIA "AG AUTO TRANS" for the implementation of environmentally friendly transportation, storage and production processes.

Maritime shipping in the Baltic Sea: challenges and opportunities for Latvian businesses

Throughout history states located on the coast of the Baltic Sea have been dependent on maritime shipping volume as its very location stipulates marine transportation being a major industry. Latvia has been famous for its marine ports since its active development phase; hence it attracted the attention of the researcher.This research is aimed at highlighting the most influential challenges can industry operators face in the course of their daily practice. The research illustrates enriched data related to the representation of legal norms required for compliance, financial calculations and applications for forecasts and hedging, taxation details in the Baltic region, and subsequent analysis. The research is believed to be of practical value for the maritime industry players and academic community interested in the Latvian maritime shipping business operations and in the Baltic region.
